THE WAX WE USE
Where Somerset countryside
meets Australian craft
Outback Organics is crafted in the heart of the Somerset countryside — bringing a distinctive Aussie twist to professional waxing. Born from a passion for botanical ingredients and clean formulations, it's the kind of brand that clients notice and ask about.
At DermaClinic we chose Outback Organics because it does two things brilliantly: it performs at a professional level and it treats skin with genuine care. Every formulation is vegan, cruelty-free and built around ingredients your skin will thank you for.

UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE
Standard vs Extended Bikini Wax
Both leave hair on the pubic mound and labia. The difference is how much is removed on the sides and top — and whether a belly trail is included.
Standard Bikini Wax
Removes hair outside the knicker line — sides and underneath
~4 fingers outside, 1 finger inside on each side
Natural, fuller shape. Pubic mound untouched.
Best for standard swimwear and everyday coverage
Extended Bikini Wax
Deeper on sides, higher from top — plus belly trail included
~5 fingers outside, ~2 fingers inside, ~2 fingers from top
Narrow, defined shape — similar to a thong cut
Ideal for high-cut or thong-style swimwear
Neither treatment includes the labia or between the cheeks. Not sure which is right for you? Just ask at your appointment.
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
How to Prepare for Your Wax
A little preparation goes a long way. Follow these steps to get the best results and the most comfortable experience.
1
Hair length
Around 0.5cm for face, 1cm+ for body. Stop shaving or trimming at least 2–3 weeks before to let hair grow long enough to grip.
3
Shower beforehand
A shower (not a bath — which softens skin too much) removes oils, sweat and makeup so the wax can grip properly.
5
Avoid caffeine & alcohol
Both increase skin sensitivity and can heighten discomfort. Skip them on the day of your appointment for a more comfortable experience.
2
Exfoliate gently
Use a gentle exfoliant 24–48 hours before your appointment to remove dead skin cells and help prevent ingrown hairs.
4
Skip the lotions
On the day, don't apply any lotions, oils, or creams to the areas being waxed — they create a barrier that prevents a clean grip.
6
Avoid sun & sunbeds
No sunbathing or sunbed use on the treatment area for at least 72 hours before your appointment — sun-sensitised skin waxes poorly.
7
Timing & hormonal sensitivity
Hormonal changes can increase skin sensitivity up to 3 days before your period and during the first days of menstruation. Where possible, book outside this window for maximum comfort.
Additional preparation for facial waxing
-
No advanced facial procedures (peels, laser, IPL, microneedling, injectables) for at least 2 weeks prior
-
Stop using acid-based or retinol home care products at least 5 days before your appointment
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Precautions & Contraindications
Hormonal changes
Pregnancy, contraceptives, HRT and other hormone therapies can increase skin sensitivity. We recommend a patch test 24 hours before your first treatment.
Rosacea
Waxing can aggravate dilated capillaries. If the area has extreme redness or active flare-ups, we advise avoiding treatment in that specific zone.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT
Waxing Aftercare
Your skin needs a little care after waxing. Follow these steps to keep it calm, smooth, and ingrown-free.
At DermaClinic, we always finish your treatment with a soothing balm and SPF.
Please continue to protect the treated area from sun exposure after your appointment to prevent irritation and pigmentation.
PHASE ONE
First 24–48 hours
Avoid heat & moisture
No hot baths, saunas, steam rooms or hot tubs — lukewarm showers only.
Keep it clean
Don't touch the waxed area with unwashed hands.
Products to avoid
No perfumed lotions, deodorants, self-tanners, or makeup on the treated area. Aloe vera or witch hazel only.
Skip the gym
Avoid intense exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating — sweat can trap bacteria in open pores.
No sun or spray tans
Avoid direct sun, sunbeds, and spray tans for at least 48 hours to prevent burning or pigmentation.
Wear loose clothing
Breathable cotton fabrics only. Avoid tight clothing, leggings, or lace — friction irritates freshly waxed skin.
PHASE TWO
Ongoing maintenance
Put down the razor
Shaving between appointments toughens hair and disrupts the growth cycle — making your next wax more uncomfortable.
