Do you feel like lipstick has become more of a daily need than a choice?
Some people are self-conscious about their lips changing over time, becoming more pale and less defined as the years go by. For some others, it's always been that way: uneven tone, lack of colour, and lips that disappear without makeup. But sometimes lip enhancement is simply about wanting to wake up feeling polished, with lips that look more defined and consistent day to day.

Lip SPMU (semi-permanent makeup) is one of the most transformative treatments I offer.
It doesn't dramatically change your face, but that's exactly the point, because when done well, it gives you a glow and refreshed look that others can't quite pinpoint why. It brings back a discreet pop of colour, improves lip symmetry, and gives the lips a softness and definition that looks completely natural.
I offer two different types of lip SPMU treatments: lip blush and full lip colour. They're sometimes mentioned interchangeably, but they create different results, and understanding that difference is important before you opt for one or the other. In this guide, I'll walk you through what to expect from lip blush and full lip colour — from consultation to healing to results.

Lip blush is the more subtle of the two. It enhances the natural tone of your lips, adds a very soft wash of colour, and improves evenness. It's like a perfect lip tint that won't wash away. It's ideal for those who want to enhance their appearance without it being obvious that anything has been done. Think of it as restoring your lips rather than changing them. Many clients who choose lip blush say they simply want to stop looking "washed out" without makeup.

Full lip colour, on the other hand, creates a much more noticeable result. It builds more pigment into the lips, giving a lipstick effect that lasts. It's important to know that this doesn't mean heavy or artificial, but it is more defined and more visible than lip blush. It's often chosen by clients who regularly wear lipstick and want to wake up with a similar, but more natural look.
Choosing between the two isn't about which one is better, but about what suits your face, your skin tone, your style. Some lips only need a small amount of correction to look balanced again and others benefit from more structure and colour. This is why a consultation is such an important part of the process.
Consultation
During a consultation, I look closely at the lips in their natural state. The shape, symmetry, tone, hydration, and the condition of the skin all influence what kind of results can be achieved. Some people have more obvious areas of pigment loss, or cooler or darker tones, for this reason this treatment can't be approached in a standardised way, it needs to be very personalised.
The technique itself is gentle and layered and the treatment is completely painless. We first use a powerful numbing cream in the area, and only then pigment is implanted gradually into the lips, building colour in a controlled way. We aim to always keep the result soft and wearable, even when a fuller colour is chosen, because lips should still look like lips, just more even, more defined and healthier.
Healing: What to Expect After Lip Blush/Full Lip Colour
Healing is an important part of the journey. Immediately after treatment, your lips might be swollen and the colour will appear stronger, but that shouldn't worry you. The swelling should subside within a few hours, and colour softens over the following days as the lips heal. It's completely normal for the colour to go through different stages before settling. Patience here is important, as the final result is always more natural than the initial appearance suggests.
Results
After semi-permanent lip enhancement, there’s no need for constant reapplication of lipstick and no concern about fading or smudging. You’ll feel naturally put together without effort and notice you no longer rely on makeup as much as you once did.
I always approach lip SPMU in a way that looks personal and appropriate for every single client that I see, that’s why every treatment session is different, and the result will reflect that. When done with care and experience, lip blush or full lip colour can make an incredible difference to your routine and self-esteem.
