Fantastic News from DermaClinic: Two Awards to Celebrate!

I'm very happy to share some lovely news with you all. I've recently been named Microblading Specialist of the Year 2026 at the Aureum Beauty & Aesthetics Awards, and I also received Highly Commended Award in the Facial Specialist category.
Both eyebrow microblading and skin health have been such a big part of my life for so many years, and I've put a lot of care, time and hard work into what I do. So, to receive these two awards really is special to me.
I'm not usually one to talk about myself or my achievements, but I thought this would be a great opportunity to reflect a little on my journey, what I've learned along the way and why I still love doing what I do.
Reflecting on how far I've come
When you spend your days working with clients, concentrating on the little details of each treatment, you don't necessarily stop to think about how far you've come or what you've achieved. I'm usually much more comfortable talking about skin, semi-permanent makeup and my clients than talking about myself! But these awards have given me a reason to reflect on my work and everything that has gone into building DermaClinic.
I've dedicated so much of my career to creating natural eyebrows and helping people achieve healthier skin, and it's fantastic to have that work recognised. Receiving recognition in two different categories also makes this very special.
Why does winning Microblading Specialist of the Year mean so much to me?
Microblading is incredibly detailed work. When someone comes to me for their eyebrows, I'm thinking about much more than creating a beautiful shape. I consider their facial structure, natural hair growth, skin type, existing asymmetries and personal style. I want to understand how they usually wear their eyebrows, what they're comfortable with and what they hope to achieve.
I've always preferred a natural approach to microblading. I want to create eyebrows that suit the client’s face, so I’ll avoid following a particular trend or giving everyone a similar look.
There's also the long-term result to consider because pigments fade and skin changes, so the decisions we make during a treatment should take all of that into account.
It's a treatment that requires patience, precision and an understanding of the individual anatomy, and I never get tired of the attention to detail involved. To receive an award specifically recognising this work means a lot to me.
What makes the Highly Commended recognition in the Facial Specialist category special?
A degree in skin science and public health is my main qualification which paved the way for my specialisation in advanced aesthetic techniques and therapies. Human biology has always been of great interest to me.
Having graduated over 25 years ago, I have continuously expanded my knowledge to ensure I deliver excellence in result-driven skin treatments. Receiving the Highly Commended Award is deeply meaningful to me—it reflects that my long-term dedication and passion are recognised by both my returning clients and industry peers.
By founding DermaClinic, I created a space where skin and beauty are viewed as part of a bigger picture.
Skin has always fascinated me because there's so much to understand, and there's never a single approach that works for everybody. Even when two clients come to me with similar concerns, their skin can respond very differently depending on their history, lifestyle, skincare habits and other factors.
I really enjoy getting to know someone's skin, understanding what is contributing to their concerns and working out which treatments or products would be helpful. Having a client who’s struggled with their skin for years tell me they’re finally leaving the house without makeup is one of the most rewarding parts of this job.
What matters most to me when working with clients?
I think trust is one of the most important parts of my work, because people come to me with all sorts of concerns. Some have been struggling with their skin for years, while others are considering microblading for the first time and feel understandably nervous about the result.
I want every client to feel comfortable asking questions, expressing their preferences and being involved in decisions about their treatment.
I take my responsibility to give professional advice seriously, but I also respect that what I might recommend isn't necessarily what someone will decide to do. There's never any pressure to book a treatment or purchase a product, and I'm always happy for someone to go away and think about their options.
One of the things I particularly appreciate about having my own clinic is getting to build relationships with clients over time. I get to know their skin, their preferences and sometimes quite a lot about their lives too. Those relationships are a big part of why I enjoy coming to work.

What makes DermaClinic different?
DermaClinic is a one-woman business.
When you book an appointment with me, I'm the person you'll see for your consultation, your treatments and your follow-up appointments. I get to know my clients, their skin, their concerns and their preferences, and that familiarity becomes really valuable over time.
I also wanted to create a clinic where I could work according to my own professional values. There are no sales targets, no pressure to book treatments and no expectation to buy products. If I recommend something, it's because I genuinely believe it could benefit you, not because I have something to sell. Having my own clinic gives me the freedom to take my time with people, explain my recommendations properly and sometimes advise against a treatment if I don't think it's the right choice.
I've worked in this industry for many years, and I know the kind of experience I want my clients to have. I want them to feel comfortable asking questions, making their own, informed decisions and knowing they'll always be looked after by someone who remembers their story, respects their choices and puts their best interests first.
What's next for me and DermaClinic?
I'll certainly be finding a nice place in the clinic to display my awards! But beyond that, I want to continue doing what I enjoy: working with my clients and finding ways to keep improving the care and treatments I offer.
The beauty and aesthetics industry is constantly changing, and there's always something new to learn. I love keeping up with developments, but I'm also very selective about what I bring into my practice. For me, a new treatment or product needs to offer something worthwhile for my clients, not just be the latest thing everyone is talking about.
I'm very grateful for these awards and the recognition they've brought, but I'm equally grateful to the people who have supported DermaClinic over the years. To my clients, thank you for trusting me with your skin and eyebrows, for coming back, for recommending me to others and for allowing me to do something I love.
I'm looking forward to everything that's still to come!
